About the Opportunity:  

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Automation Lead to join the Brucejack Mine in Northwestern, British Columbia.

This position is located at Pretium Exploration Inc.'s Brucejack Gold mine, British Columbia. The Mill Maintenance Automation Lead’s primary report is to the Mill Maintenance Superintendent or designate. 

You will work within the instrumentation and process control team and provide technical support to operations, maintenance, metallurgy and other stakeholders.  You will apply current policies, standards and values in the execution of your work. 

Responsibilities:

The Mill Maintenance Automation Lead’s responsibilities include:

  • Refine existing policies and standards and develop new ones to ensure that the overall control system is robust in meeting the best industrial standards in terms of security and operations efficiency.
  • Maintain control system infrastructure including system administration, cyber security, hot fixes, patches, virus definition updates and back-ups.
  • Maintain training simulation software and models.
  • Ensure alarm and critical interlock bypass management
  • Program, troubleshoot and maintain existing process control systems.
  • Program new projects and support commissioning and start-up project related activities
  • Ensure timely resolution of technical issues, and technical support requests from operations, maintenance and other stakeholders
  • Apply continuous improvement techniques to improve and optimize control systems reliability and performance
  • Provide remote support for troubleshooting and assistance while off site.
  • Develop and support automation best practices, standards and guidelines
  • Contribute and be a mentor in a safety driven, positive work culture.
  • Assist in the recruitment and development of capable and competent maintenance personnel, establish clear expectations and goals, review and manage performance.
  • Work closely with other team members to develop weekly job plans
  • Administer work procedures in accordance with company policies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree or Technologist Diploma in a related engineering discipline or with a minimum of ten (10) years of in process control systems configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting, preferably in an operating plant environment.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in configuration, troubleshooting and maintaining the Emerson DeltaV, PLC, and plant network communication systems, of which 5 years’ experience in an administrative and development role using Emerson DeltaV.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience configuring and maintaining DeltaV Simulate and Mimic Simulation.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience configuring and maintaining PLC Systems (Preference with Allen Bradley)
  • Experience in configuration, troubleshooting and maintaining communications between various control systems using industrial communication protocols like OPC and Modbus

Skills:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of digital buses such as Profi-Bus, Modbus.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols such as TCP/IP, Ether Net/IP, OPC
  • Knowledge of regulatory and discrete controls, including motor controls, variable frequency drives, safety instrumented systems, field sensors, final control elements
  • Knowledgeable in the preparation and review of control deliverables, such as control narratives, logic diagrams, cause and effect diagrams, wiring diagrams
  • Familiar with networks, switches, Fibre optics and other control system infrastructures, including process control network security.
  • Strong Troubleshooting capability.

Additional Information:

  • Work at remote location (camp) on a 14 days on/14 days off rotation
  • Able to pass a pre-employment medical screening
  • Must be able to lift/move up to 50lbs throughout a work shift
  • Able to work in a Mill setting as well as Underground
  • Be able maintain high levels of performance over 12 hour shifts
  • Able to work in areas of extreme weather conditions
  • Able to work in close quarters with the team
